Congratulations! You are about to take an important step toward independence and adulthood with your Minnesota driver training. Learning to drive is a serious undertaking—the process entails a great deal of responsibility and focus—but it can be lots of fun.

What to Expect
We will provide you with quality Minnesota driver training to facilitate earning a driver’s license.

We will also:
Answer your questions about the licensing process, testing, and driving.
Build a relationship with you so that you feel comfortable throughout the training
Talk with you about any topic that affects your driving
Prepare you for driver license questions and written driving tests
Make the training process as enjoyable as possible
Encourage you to do your best

What We Expect of You
Although learning to drive will be memorable and exciting, we want you to take your Minnesota driver training very seriously.

We expect you to:
Recognize that driving is an adult responsibility and treat it that way
Read, sign, and abide by the Student Class Conduct Contract that you will receive when you register for
    classroom instruction
Please be on time and attend all scheduled classes. If you must miss a class please notify our office as soon as
    possible and we will arrange a make-up date for you.

Our Process

Are you ready to get behind the wheel? Here’s what the State of Minnesota requires:

To receive your permit, you must:

Be at least 15 years old
Complete 30 hours of
    classroom instruction and
    be enrolled in behind-the-
    wheel instruction
Pass the Knowledge Test
   (also known as the Permit
    Test)
Have your parent’s or
    guardian’s approval

To take the next step and earn your license, you must:

Be at least 16 years old
Have completed six hours
    of behind-the-wheel
    training
Have held your permit for
    six months with no
    convictions for moving
    violations or
    alcohol/controlled
    substance-related violations
Have at least 30 hours of
    supervised driving, including
    10 hours of night driving,
    verified by your
    parent/guardian
